We present the discovery and confirmation of the ultra-short period (USP) planet TOI-2431 b orbiting a nearby ($d\sim36$ pc) late K star ($T_{\mathrm{eff}}$ = $4109 \pm 28 \, {\rm K}$) using observations from the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), precise radial velocities with the NEID and the Habitable-zone Planet Finder (HPF) spectrographs, as well as ground-based high contrast imaging from NESSI. The Distribution of Atomic Hydrogen in the Hosts Galaxies of FRBs
We probe the atomic hydrogen (HI) emission from the host galaxies of fast radio bursts (FRBs) to investigate the emerging trend of disturbance and asymmetry in the population. Quadrupling the sample size, we detect 13 of 14 new hosts in HI, with the only non-detection arising in a galaxy known to be transitioning towards quiescence. I tried going for a 1km run this morning, first time out since tearing my calf back at the end of July.
After a few minutes walking, I started running slowly, only to make it a few hundred metres before feeling a weird "ping" in my leg that suggested I was maybe being over optimistic.
I walked the rest of the way, with no problems, but I'm a bit sad that I'm not quite ready to get back on the roads yet, to say nothing of the tennis court 😕

We present results from a systematic search for transiting short-period Giant Exoplanets around M-dwarf Stars (GEMS; $P < 10$ days, $R_p \gtrsim 8~R_\oplus$) within a distance-limited 100\,pc sample of 149,316 M-dwarfs using TESS-Gaia Light Curve (TGLC) data.
