baseball: Baseball steroid use (2008)
Two networks representing steroid use among baseball players. First, a bipartite network of players and their steroid providers (of illegal performance-enhancing substances). Second, a one-mode projection of players, which are linked if they have a common supplier.
This network has 72 nodes and 1089 edges.

We have to talk about burning trash🗑️🔥
Waste incinerators / waste-to-energy plants that generate electricity and heat are an enormous and often underestimated source of CO2 🏭💨🌎. For example, in Germany, a country where waste-to-energy plants are common, their emissions are higher than those of cement.
Waste incinerator operators will often claim that half of their emissions don't count 🌿 or even that they already have net-negative emissions 🌎. I disagree with both 🧵

Here is a little more:
The minimum wage in BC in 1974 was $2.50/hr (the highest in Canada at the time).
That’s $15.75 in 2025 dollars.
The minimum wage in BC as of June 1 2025: $17.85/hr
So adjusted for inflation, University costs have risen 117% but the most common wages for students have only risen 13%.
It’s not hard to figure out why people, especially young people, are struggling.
Put another way:
In today's dollars Tuition has risen $81 every year since 1974.
Minimum wage has risen 4 cents per hour every year since 1974.

Some of our internal builds have been building with Xcode 26 betas since WWDC, but yesterday evening I went ahead and switched over everything else that isn't on a release branch, so we now have 50 targets building with beta 4.
The most common build issue we've run into in our code is declaring the size of a C array using `const int`, which we now declare as an `enum` as a stronger compile-time guarantee of its constant value:
- const int OFXMLIDLength = 11;
enum {…

Like, we have a huge body of knowledge in the security community about how to audit human-generated codebases for the types of bugs that human developers commonly write.
But we don't have that kind of data yet (AFAIK) for the vibe-coded monstrosities all of us are going to be pentesting soon.

baseball: Baseball steroid use (2008)
Two networks representing steroid use among baseball players. First, a bipartite network of players and their steroid providers (of illegal performance-enhancing substances). Second, a one-mode projection of players, which are linked if they have a common supplier.
This network has 72 nodes and 1089 edges.
