For most of the pandemic Australia has worked to contain the virus through evidence-based public health measures such as border closures, case finding, contact tracing, quarantine, social distancing, vaccines and, at times, lockdown. Sadly, the weaponisation of lockdown as a pointscoring issue and emotional trigger has led to a conflation of lockdown with all other public health measures, most of which do not impinge on freedoms. So apparently I can't stop people from sponsoring me myself. And I can't disable #GitHubSponsors either, because I have people sponsoring me. The only thing I can do is to contact support and ask them to handle it.
Fortunately, there's a ready support link with pre-filled form. Except it doesn't work anymore, so you have to go through the new support request form yourself. And after you write the message yourself, it is fed to a completely useless LLM that tells you how to disable account. Except that the process doesn't work, because as the bottom hint notes, if you have any active sponsors, you need to contact support instead 🤦. Well, at least it eventually lets you send that support request.
At least #KoFi lets you remove memberships yourself. It also lets you remove the account entirely but apparently not deactivate it. For that, there's apparently a support request. Sent one, let's see how it goes.

Abstract: The basic and effective reproduction numbers are widely used metrics for characterizing the dynamics of infectious disease epidemics. However, the interpretation of these numbers is based on the assumption of homogeneous mixing and may not hold in real-world populations where the contact patterns deviate from that assumption. In this paper, we present a network-based framework to compare reproduction numbers in populations with and without spatial structure, while other parameters of the disease remain fixed. Using this framework, we show that in homogeneously mixed populations, in the absence of external interventions, the effective reproduction number decreases exponentially as the susceptible population declines. In contrast, in spatially structured populations, the basic reproduction number is smaller, and the effective reproduction number initially decreases faster but eventually converges to unity. We show that the reproduction number is determined by the level of competition between infectious nodes, which is governed by the network structure. Our results suggest that without knowledge of the network structure, reproduction numbers may not be informative for parameterizing the contagiousness of the disease or predicting the behavior of epidemic spreading.
