Edge statistics for random band matrices
We consider Hermitian and symmetric random band matrices on the $d$-dimensional lattice $(\mathbb{Z}/L\mathbb{Z})^d$ with bandwidth $W$, focusing on local eigenvalue statistics at the spectral edge in the limit $W\to\infty$. We report on a search for elementary particles with charges much smaller than the electron charge using a data sample of proton-proton collisions provided by the CERN Large Hadron Collider in 2023--24, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 124.7~fb$^{-1}$ at a center-of-mass energy of 13.6~TeV. The analysis presented uses the completed Run 3 milliQan bar detector to set the most stringent constraints to date for particles with charges $\leq0.24~\rm{e}$ and masses $\geq0.45~\rm{GeV}$.

Zauner's conjecture concerns the existence of $d^2$ equiangular lines in $\mathbb{C}^d$; such a system of lines is known as a SIC. In this paper, we construct infinitely many new SICs over finite fields. While all previously known SICs exhibit Weyl--Heisenberg symmetry, some of our new SICs exhibit trivial automorphism groups. We conjecture that such \textit{totally asymmetric} SICs exist in infinitely many dimensions in the finite field setting.

We present a high-resolution radio-continuum view and a multi-frequency analysis of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) Supernova Remnant (SNR) J0450.4-7050, which we give the nickname Veliki. Charge-changing cross sections (CCCSs) of 18O on carbon (C) and lead (Pb) targets have been measured with an uncertainty of less than 4% at around 370MeV/nucleon. We evaluate the contributions of nucleon-nucleon (NN) and electromagnetic (EM) interactions to CCCSs by considering the direct proton removal process, the charged particle evaporation (CPE) after neutron removal, and the EM excitation.
