A topology for Engel expansions: evaluation and digit coding maps
We develop a topological framework for Engel expansions that treats both directions of the correspondence between points of $(0,1]$ and nondecreasing digit sequences. We endow the sequence space with the product topology to study the evaluation map, and we fix a nonterminating digit algorithm to study the digit coding map. We also record the correspondence between cylinder sets and fundamental intervals, and give an application to Baire category results for functions of the digits.

Fortunately, incapacitating "AI" is fairly easy. It's all still just computers & code.
I mean, I like the analogy but it has a limit. AI is like 2-digit years: a bad idea that many people always knew was shoddy but no one fixed until everyone did because they had to.
I don't know what the equivalent might be for "AI" but I expect that sometime next year we'll start seeing BIG stumbles that result in orgs running away (individually) from it.

We prove that the sequence of the last nonzero digits of factorials in every integer base $b>2$ is not eventually periodic. We also extend the Adamczewski--Bugeaud criterion, originally formulated for integer base expansions, to Cantor base expansions associated with a periodic Cantor base. As an application, we show that a certain real number expressed through a Cantor base expansion is transcendental when the Cantor base and the digit sequence satisfy suitable conditions.
