I wonder...
How long time before all the #ai responses to search questions all get contaminated by sponsored tweaks to their answers?
A year?
I understand that Musk's personal ai toy already does that with respect to questions about him. It can't be much harder to sell ad spots that tweak the ai answers in a similar way, to car companies or dishwasher manufacturers.
I made a stupid mistake today. We have a built-in dishwasher. We’ve used a brand of washing fluid called 7th Generation for years. They changed the packaging again, to a bottle size that’s harder for our old hands to deal with. At the grocers I saw a smaller bottle of the same brand next to the size we had. I bought one, thinking that we’d use it and when it ran out we could decant from the big one to the small one. I used it today for the first time. It wasn’t dishwashing fluid. (1/4)
A dishwasher that can switch to off-peak times? These French companies have created a dishwasher that can be linked to the French smart meter to receive the off-peak price signal. It's a good move (but it's not Europe's first, as they claim).

Of course, my crappy dishwasher decided to die right before the biggest food day of the year... one last "f*ck you" on its way out
Sunday Robotics unveils Memo, a fully autonomous home robot capable of tasks like making espresso and loading dishwashers, set to launch in beta in 2026 (Will Knight/Wired)

I was looking for my dishwasher manual. I noticed next to the manual, a link that said "Free Open Source Software". Curious, I clicked on it, and it's a long list of licenses and copyright information that is used in the dishwasher. Ctrl-F, and sure enough - my name's on the list.
I feel like I should have gotten a discount on the dishwasher, or at the very least access to its firmware source code! 🤠
Seattle Torrent has the most minty fresh logo. Not sure whether toothpaste or dishwasher detergent yet though. #pwhl #pooptoots #SeattleTorrent
Smart fridge, smart stove, smart dishwasher, smart washer/dryer or other household appliances... HELL NO! I don't want or need internet connected appliances. If those servers goes offline, if an 'upgrade' glitches or I say no to an update what happens to the basic functionality? What data are they capturing and selling?

A programmer estimates his typical day of coding with Claude Code is equivalent to running the dishwasher an extra time, much more energy than a "median query" (Simon P. Couch)

The dog really seems to hate the dishwasher.
Can't wait for my dishwasher to send Rinsed 2025, the traditional year-end wrap-up. I hope it includes that one extra-chunky lasagna pan.
It's gonna be especially great because I replaced the utensils basket in June or July. 😍
How many pounds of detergent do you think I used this year?! How many loads did I run with the rinse agent depleted?! I'm on the edge of my seat over here!
I’m conducting my fourth four-day ‘Let Sounds Be Sounds’ seminar in Karlsruhe, Germany - from tomorrow.
Feel free to come and laugh at me / grant moral support / hear me warble on about Varèse, John Cage, the musicality of dishwasher doors, and, er, raves.

And as another Christmas dinner is completed and the table gets cleared, please join with me in giving a little word of thanks to the inventor of the dishwasher.
