I initially bought the thermal camera to identify insulation issues during winter, now I'm hunting for heat bridges and appliances that produce too much warmth.
Fridge heats up the whole wall, AC sucks in air through the extractor hood exhaust, the dishwasher distributes heat evenly and the surround receiver is 40°C hot while in standby.

#today I am *slowly* getting some admin done and doing some tinkering. My order with 12 Volt Planet was dealt with this morning, hurrah!
(I have also run the dishwasher and have laundry out on the line, and I think I shall go for a quick walk...)

i don't know who at BC Hydro* is in charge of their Web UX in their user account website, but man they have had this consumption data in one form or another for a long time and now that they have brought in the option for time-of-day based billing, they've improved the graphing even more!
It easily and simply shows, on a daily basis, what rate I am paying at what time and how much.

I can also add in the average temperature over that time, and also compare total daily consumption between this year and last. Tier 1 applies to the first 644kWh used of the billing month. Last month the Tier 1 applied to exactly half my consumption.
On my rate schedule (in CAD) the off-peak prices are:
Tier 1: 11.87 cents/kWh
Tier 2: 14.08 cents/kWh
On peak surcharge: 5 cents/kWh
Overnight discount: -5 cents/kWh
As an example, last month I was charged $10.40 for on-peak usage but got a discount of $25.90 for off peak time. After all is said and done, my overall average power cost for the month was 12.67 cents/kWh. The majority of that overnight usage is:
EV charging.
Overnight dishwasher/laundry/dryer/hot water use.
Pond pumps.
*the Crown Corporation that generates and delivers most of the electricity in British Columbia Canada)

I feel like I should explain: both microwaves and dishwashers use energy much more efficiently (think up to an order of magnitude) than conventional ovens or handwashing respectively.
(A dishwasher also uses way less water than handwashing.)

alright, job #1 for the day done -- dishwasher filled as much as possible (we can't do dishes in the sink due to a busted faucet pipe!)

job #3 -- now to try again to splice in an extension line for the 2nd #poolpond pump. I'm apprehensive... feeling like it is probably not going to work and that I'm missing something else, or that the pump itself or controller has gone bad (due to my actions). I'm going to try to shorten the existing extension as much as possible in case it is something in the line or the length. If that doesn't work, I’ll use a brand new extension cord for the extension. I'm also nervous because the line I am extending is not long (thus the extension!) and I'm going to run out of cutting space at some point -- ruining the pump. : (

#today is forecast for a mere 34°C; I am running laundry (cold wash) now and have scheduled dishwasher (ECO) around PV generation and #SSES morning grid peak, and my laptop remains off-grid, though not the extra monitor I am using to help with my journal #paper reviews (I am on review 3, which is 'major' revisions, so the toughest).
