You can literally just not play the new versions of D&D if you don't like them. The old ones aren't going to stop receiving security updates and let dæmonic creatures from the Abyss crawl into your house through a netherportal in your morning room table if you dare open an unpatched book. It's fine. It's a game. This, too, is cons00merism. They have to keep changing it to sell more shit. Relax.

Enjoyed the demo for Die For The Lich. I've really enjoyed the design space of dice in video games (Dicey Dungeons, DICEOMANCER, Duck and Roll). Similar to cards, they provide explicit input randomness, but you think a lot more about probabilities and sums.
The game feels pretty streamlined, but open to a lot of depth as you earn more dice and trinkets (which you draw like dice).

Come to think of it, I guess this one has a bunch of output randomness too, but the push your luck mechanic makes it feel more like gambling than whiffing.
You have up to three equipped items, pick one, and roll dice for it. The item has a crit threshold that you can match with dice sums for extra powers, but if you go over then that attack fails and your dice are discarded.
You can't plan perfectly like Dicey Dungeons. Dice are rolled for the current attack instead of for the turn.
