"Damit verändert sich auch, was ein Open-Source-Projekt überhaupt ist. Es wird nicht mehr als sozio-technisches Gefüge wahrgenommen, in dem Code, Dokumentation, Community und Finanzierung aufeinander bezogen sind, sondern als bloßer Datenlieferant für nachgelagerte Systeme. Das Projekt wird unsichtbar, während seine Produkte weiter zirkulieren."

Today I tried to get our new Hetzner mailbox to work with gitlab issues, but failed. I blame Hetzner, because a) they don't seem to support subaddressing (foo 123@example.com) and b) they don't set the proper mail header (Envelope-To and Delivered-To) when doing a mail forward. Both of which work for example with mailbox.org, and both are needed to allow issue creation via email in gitlab (what they call Service Desk). Grrr...

This is a great example of the drum I’m always beating about elected officials: we lead, they follow.
And yes, it matters who we elect, and no, they’re not “all the same” (my dude, come on). It matters •not• because we can count on them to come save us — we cannot and •must• not — but because when we do the work, they can become tools of and extensions of our own power. We elected Moriarty, we set up the situation for her to do this, and now she’s doing it. We led, she followed.
I really hope she pulls it off. I’ll keep doing my part on the ground.

Found a new example of a crappy carousel in the wild for a talk!
At first it seems fine, but it’s death by paper cuts.
• Horizontal scroll, offset from edge of viewport;
• clipped text;
• poor CSS `grid` use;
• scroll snap;
• `alt`-less images;
• `aria-label` on the links;
• and more!
Oh. It’s just Wix.

Horizontal scrolling container on a web page with 2 ‘slides’ and part of a third visible, all with prominent large images, large text that flows outside each slide and is clipped by the slide that follows it, and which in turn clips text sitting below it in little pill-like boxes.
