I think recent versions of firefox have reduced the rendering size of fonts. I've noticed over the last couple of weeks that everything looks smaller.

I don't do front-end so this isn't useful to me right now, but in a former life I worked pre-press and I'm amazed at what you can do with #OpenType fonts.

Hope I can finish these two fonts by this year.
1. The geometric condensed sans based on PSCTF v2 logotype. Planned to have 4–6 masters: Light–Regular(maybe bold?) × Roman/Oblique
2. An Inter “collage” for a Latin Grotesk style Japanese Kana font.

A lot of folks got very excited about the MacBook Neo — but Apple's been selling a machine with almost these exact specs for *years*. So what did the bright colors and rounded fonts really try to solve? Maybe Apple's embarrassment about serving Walmart customers. https://www.anildash.com/2026/03/08/neo-ap
The emergence and proliferation of “influencers” reminds me of when the LaserWriter first appeared, and everybody went nuts with the fonts and formatting and printing all kinds of bullshit because now they could, cheaply, and then gradually it all died down and became just another useful tool, except the influencers are still shitting out their crap because they all see the few who are making bank at it and dream of being the next superstar. Humans are so fucking gullible. Oooh, shiny!

Deleting 225 Noto fonts every time I install KDE is one of those sloppy, lazy things that pisses me off. Ain't gonna use Old Hungarian anyway. And why Okular needs 25 (I counted them) VLC plugins, is beyond me also. I thought this was a document reader?

One of the things that is interesting doing mass encodes is verifying all of the little things that can just mess everything up. If you're pulling in stuff like 3rd-party subtitles, then you have to verify the timing of the subtitles and adjust as necessary. Even better, if those are SubStation Alpha subtitles, you have to verify if the style fonts get added as attachments to the MKV file.
And if it's across something like a TV show, you definitely need to do this for every e…
I just released new music: SATIE ET LES OISEAUX.
It's me playing Erik Satie's music on the electric cello, with birds.

Something about the fonts used that makes them look more annoying somehow.

So it's been pointed out that steve, the #jobserver, doesn't have a #logo. Here's a first approximation. Made in #Inkscape, using lines and fonts (the apples are from Noto Sans, I think). I also have an SVG version but browsers mess it up by substituting the apples for some colorful emojis with incompatible metrics. I've added a bright background, since the actual transparent background doesn't work on black (which seems to be Mastodon default).
#followerpower

It's been like experiencing culture shock: I have to care about responsive layouts on multiple devices? fonts? logo?

Probably not i18n fails, but it feels so weird to match Palatino with these “cute”/“fancy” handwriting fonts (or plain Noto Sans CJK).

In their PostScript Type 1 font specifications, Adobe makes a very clear statement: The source code of font programs is protected by copyright laws, but not the shapes of the fonts: "the typeface shapes are not protected, but the program text is. A copyright on
a Type 1 font program that generates a particular typeface does not preclude anyone from independently creating a different program for that same typeface."
