In June of 1759, new settlers began arriving in Nova Scotia, not from Europe but from the American colonies. French Canadians, known as Acadians, were removed from the Atlantic colony in 1755, and the British governor of Nova Scotia was anxious to repopulate his territory with loyal subjects.
