An old SSD, an 80mm fan I had lying around, a Raspberry Pi 4, and a 3D-printed case make up the new (and likely temporary) home for Home Assistant.
For now, I have modest plans for this setup, but once I get the hang of it, I might need to upgrade the hardware if I run out of resources to add new self-hosted home automation devices.

There is a @homeassistant@fedigroups.socialbot that replaces the old gup.pe home assistant bot.
Mention it in your home asssitant posts and it will boost them. Follow it to see all the #homeassistant posts it boosts that may not normally get federated to your instance.
There’s also @… - follow that and it will automatically boost everything you post with #homeassistant without you having to remember to mention the bot.
For those who don’t know, these bots exist because when you look for a a hashtag, your server only checks the posts that have been federated to it.
In order for a message to be federated to your server, the author (or one of the people boosting it) have to be followed by someone on your server. If no one touching the message is being followed, it’ll never get federated to your server and you won’t see it.
Hashtags are great for finding messages, but only messages that were federated to your server. They don’t help message propagation, but these bots will.

That was different for the work commute.
First time in months buses arrived and on time! bus departed near the home stop @06:20. arrived at work @06:40. Ten minute walk to where I work, so 06:50. For months it was 07:15 to 07:30.
I am hoping that the commute home will go well. normally I leave around 15:00 and lucky to get home by 16:25. If they are on time and no cancellation it should be around 15:40.

I'm trying out a new mosquito-control contraption made by Ortho. It features a landing pad laced with powderized, lethal fungus spores (Beauveria bassiana) that can be transferred via tarsi to standing water elsewhere in the yard or in your neighbors' yards. The water in the container also has an insecticide (pyriproxyfen) to kill any larvae that might develop from eggs left by females. Today was my first attempt at a “normal” workday in the past three months. I got into the office by 9:20am, has#d to lie down for a while because I was in pain and dizzy, felt better after that but drowsy all day and I think blurred vision too.
