“over on x the everything app some Chicago high school kid named Danny Spud tried to disrupt his school's anti-ICE protest by yelling about how much he loves ICE and then filmed himself getting walloped by a fellow student lmao
the quote tweet making fun of him has 3x the likes”
I’ll post the video next.
i’m not totally 💯 it’s not staged, but either way, remeber;
violence isn’t THE answer
But it su…

danny's original tweet which reads, Today, students at my high school in Chicago held an Anti-ICE protest.

I was the only one that decided to hold a sign that said ‘I Love ICE’.

Instead of allowing me to express my opinion, I was assaulted — Just for standing up for law enforcement.

What is happening to America?

there is a 47 second video that sees multiple other kids talk smack to him and one of them just lays into him physically
a quote tweet that has transcription from the video. the tweet reads:“You’re gonna punch me?”
“Yeah”
“Then you’re gonna in trouble for that”
“Okay”

Followed by this frame is one of the hardest things I’ve seen on the internet this week.

the frame in question is the kid winding up for a punch. it looks exactly like the pepe punching meme

Alright, the internet is all too much right now. I'm gonna take a break for a bit and work on some projects. I have some organizing to do and some bugs to find.
The horrible things in the world don't change what we have to do. Our work is and has always been the same. They may make it easier to get other folks on board, they may make it more obvious that we were right all along, but they don't change our job.
We will do our work of building community, supporting each other, and creating the world we want to see. It will take as long as it takes to do. None of the news changes any of that. So I'm gonna take my break and hopefully come back after I've gotten some of that shit done.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Remember that when you start to feel guilty about taking a breath.

It's kinda a wild fact that there are these Internet Protocols that are used extremely widely, but knowledge how they work is scarce.
For reasons, I just wondered a few things about OCSP. That's part of TLS, and, idk, most people would probably attribute "knowledge of TLS" to me.
Yet... I kinda know what OCSP does, but... I don't really know how the protocol works.
And if I google for something like "easy explanation of OCSP", I don't find a…

Thank you all for 3,000 followers on here! Here’s a photo of Danny to celebrate the occasion ☺️
3 years into being part of Mastodon, I continue to be impressed with how wonderful the people here are and how much this social network actually FEELS social. People replying to one another, having conversations, learning things, sharing moments of joy, making friends.
Mastodon brought my business clients, helped me gain confidence in my own voice, freed me from dependence on big tech and algorithms, rekindled my interests, introduced me to incredible people and projects, and served as a source of hope in humanity in the times when cynicism and nihilism felt all but inevitable.
I love our little corner of the internet, and am so glad that it’s still here despite everyone who professed it was doomed to fade into irrelevance.
Thank you to everyone reading these words for being here on the Fedi. The world is a little better thanks to your choice to support an independent web.

The title says "Europe", but text at the bottom says "South China Morning Post".
Probably an unlabeled bot account, an unusual mastodon server (no way to see what users post there) and a website that reposts things from all over the internet (e.g. reddit posts).
Didn't find enough proofs, but smells fishy.

A screenshot of a post by @ europe @ pubeurope.com:

"Opinion | Europe risks a self-fullfilling prophecy of war with Russia" with a link to europesays .com and a lot of tags.

At the bottom of the link's image one can see that it's taken from South China Morning Post.

Black Coffee from lnbits likes internet of things, but doesn't like the way it tends to work with centralised servers and spying companies running them.
But what if your coffee pot and lights and smart plugs were nostr instead?
Nobody can cut your machine off, it has it's own keys and encryption, you could even ruin your own relay to talk to it instead of using public relays.
Remote control without having to expose the home network.
You could even make it require zaps and so make a vending machine.
Demonstration by sending lightning requests to the coffee pot on stage works better than the mikes that have been feeding back this afternoon 😆

Speaking of old internet things, I was telling someone about my first ISP being ClarkNet, an ISP started by a deaf person and on a working farm… I discovered they’ve got a Wikipedia entry that mostly meshes with my memory of it!

@… I wonder if it would be valuable to have a more structured way to evaluate additions to the addon manager? Maybe use GitHub issues? Or did things change and I also missed it?
Question:
Looks nice one to have, I will try when I am on pc.
Why not in addon manager?

Oh hey, if you like mesh networking and hidden networks, you might want to keep an eye on reticulum.network/
It still has some issues, but it's getting off to a good start. It's kind of amazing how easy it is to embed it in other things for steganographic purposes. I definitely see room for improvement, but it's already exciting.
Nomadnet (built on top of it) is already really exciting. It feels very much like the 90's internet. Enjoy!
