Elite propaganda.
Medieval knights were a bloodthirsty elite. Armour allowed them to cut down commoners with relative impunity, and they did. The myth of the 'parfait gentil knicht' is entirely propaganda.

Two books from my research shelf: 'The History of the English Longbow' by Donald Featherstone, and 'The Use of Medieval Weaponry' by Eric Lowe. Both of these I'd recommend.
My own home-made longbow, with its quiver and arrows, and my practice longsword.

I've just reserved the new Miss Marple from the library, Murder at the Grand Alpine Hotel by Lucy Foley. I've been disappointed by some books that take a dead author's characters, but have read a couple of crackers recently so am going to give this one a whirl. I can also recommend Longbourn by Jo Baker, P&P below stairs and really well done, and The Golden Hours by Louisa Young, EJH's niece and a continuation of their own family history, The Cazalet Chronicles

Rabo Carbon Bank, de ‘groene’ tak van de Rabobank, stond op het punt te investeren in de bescherming van een kwetsbaar Boliviaans bos. Toch lukte het de Braziliaanse agrogigant Bom Futuro om dit dertigduizend hectare grote woud in handen te krijgen. Met dank aan een bijklussende Rabo-medewerker. Nu dreigt massale kaalkap voor de productie van soja.
