Medieval knights were a bloodthirsty elite. Armour allowed them to cut down commoners with relative impunity, and they did. The myth of the 'parfait gentil knicht' is entirely propaganda.

One more example of why there needs to be an international treaty addressing how we use "Space" - because what happens in space does not stay in space. The launch phase has its own environmental impacts. The way it is now, if the US stops launches from the US, nothing stops these outsized egos from using launchpads in another country.
