These are the photos for my 2026 calendar. Got the proofs today. Should have the hard copies in 2 weeks. Always agonizing to pick 13 of my photos for the next one. The last few years I’ve had to use older ones too. I don’t get out to shoot as much anymore. I’m hoping that will improve. I’ve volunteered to be a photographer for the city park dept. I’ll take pics of people engaged in the parks and activities, and whatever else I see.

Composite of 12 photos I’ve selected for my 2026 calendar. In order the pictures are:
January - a house finch in a tree
February - a coyote standing looking at the photographer (me)
March - sunrise over mountains
April - 3 days-old goslings in weeds
May - a catbird in a tree
June - scenic view of mountains, clouds, rain, and sunlight
July - closeup of a Mariposa Lily
August - closeup of a prickly poppy
September - head and shoulders of an elk cow
October - a blue heron taking flight
November - …

A friend of mine rooted my #Roborock S7 robot vacuum and installed custom software called #Valetudo. Now it runs completely without needing to connect to the manufacturer's servers in China, which gives me more peace of mind. I was surprised that almost all the original fun…

A partially disassembled robot vacuum is spread out on a wooden table. Various internal components are visible, including circuit boards with glowing blue lights, a red and black brush attachment, and other plastic parts. Several small glasses, tools like screwdrivers, and a paper towel are also on the table, indicating a repair or maintenance process in progress.
The image shows a map interface from the Valetudo app, displaying a floor plan with an outlined cleaning path taken by a robotic vacuum. The plan includes various paths and possible obstacles. The app has a blue header with navigation icons, and controls for segment cleaning are visible below the map.
The image shows a statistics screen from valetudo application. At the top, it displays "Total Time" with a reading of "383h 54m 04s." Below, there's a badge with the letters "bcc" in the center, surrounded by a blue and orange border. The text beneath the badge reads, "You've cleaned more than the whole CC Congress: bcc Berlin Congress Center." At the bottom, it shows "Total Area" with a measurement of "17687.88 m²."

I usually post in the evening today's post inthe morning for the 'Fotovorschlag' somehow broke my routine.
Anyways, I wanted to share this photo from my hike on sunday. It was my first winter-hike this season! Saturday was a great cloud inversion - which I missed - sunday greeted me (and QUITE some more hikers) with a plain blue sky.
I hope I can get out again on the weekend to test warmer socks.
Well - enjoy!

A stunning winter landscape unfolds under a clear, vibrant blue sky, capturing the pristine beauty of a snow-covered mountain slope. The untouched snow blankets the terrain, its smooth, white surface glistening in the bright sunlight. Footprints lead up the slope, creating a sense of adventure and exploration as they wind their way toward the summit.

At the top of the slope, a small, rustic cabin nestles comfortably among the snow-laden trees, its presence adding a touch of warmth and coziness…

I guess the plans for Sunday swimming are off the table at the current temperatures. #Uckermark #coldswim

Dry leaves covered in frost in a forest.
Two persons standing on top of the water of a small lake. Apparently the water at the shore is frozen to hold the weight. Both people are wearing thick winter clothes. The right person is also wearing a scarf. The sky is clear and the beginning sunset turning the edge pink from blue already. The photo is taken from a very low angle.
Sunset over a small lake in the forest. Some black silhouettes of reed in the foreground. The sky is bluish turning orange with cloud traces of pink towards the top of the treeline. A faint black silhouette of a person in the foreground.

My hip pain, what I’m pretty sure was bursitis, disappeared after several days of rest. 🙌 I waited another couple of days and felt pretty good about trying it out.
So, we begin again. Again.
Stopped at the halfway point to take a few pictures and let my HR come down a bit. Felt good early and sluggish late. What I expect, for a while anyway.
#Running

My running stats: 5.1 km in 37:38 for an average pace of 7:22/km
A silhouetted power tower stands against a twilight sky, with power lines stretching across the scene. A crescent moon is positioned atop the tower, creating a striking visual contrast with the fading light.
A tranquil scene of the Roanoke River at dusk, with trees lining the banks. The sky features soft clouds transitioning from blue to hints of orange and yellow as the sun sets, reflected in the calm water below.
A metal pedestrian bridge stretches across a tranquil setting, flanked by bare trees and a clear blue sky. The path leads toward a rail yard visible at the far end of the bridge. Fallen leaves are scattered on the wooden surface.
