De ongeveer 30.000 werknemers van de lokale overheid gebruiken nu niet langer Microsofts mailserversoftware Exchange en mailclient Outlook. Het gaat om ambtenaren op alle niveaus, maar ook om politiemensen en rechters. De minister van Digitalisering Dirk Schrödter verklaart dat de deelstaat onafhankelijk wil worden van grote techbedrijven en de digitale soevereiniteit wil waarborgen. "Nu kunnen we ook zeggen: missie geslaagd op het gebied van e-mailcommunicatie."

Duitse deelstaat voltooit migratie van Exchange en Outlook naar opensource
De Duitse deelstaat Sleeswijk-Holstein is voor de eigen e-mailomgeving geheel over van Microsoft Exchange en Outlook naar Open-Xchange en Thunderbird. De migratie weg van Microsoft is in april vorig jaar ingezet en heeft volgens de premier van deze deelstaat een voorbeeldfunctie.
