Radium Girls in Le Locle, #schweiz
Das Street Art Exomusée Le Locle zeigt eine dunkle Seite der Geschichte der Uhrmacherei. In den 20er Jahren waren viele Werkstätten der Uhrenindustrie mit Radium kontaminiert. Der Künstler SHOK-1 macht dies in seinem Mural sichtbar.

The London artist Shok-1 works on this façade at the intersection of Rue des Envers and Rue Alexis-Marie-Piaget. The mural is rendered in the colour of radium watch lume, as if it were the dial glowing in the dark.

I love stories like this. If I could live life over again, I'd be a research historian to work on projects like this. The mural and the car fascinate me, and I wish there were a way to recover the mural. #WW2 #history

Did you know that the #UniversityOfGeorgia has TWO sets of Jean Charlot murals on its campus? Charlot hung out on the UGA campus for three years in the early 1940s, teaching and working with students. His murals that were inside what was once UGA's journalism building recently underwent some restoration thanks to our museum and the help of a lot of people from across campus.
