Naming Things Is Hard
Big Tree™ (no understatement!) at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, 2019.
This beautiful individual is 1500 years old, but will it or its kind survive another 1500 years (or even just 150 years) of human presence?
#ThickTrunkThursday #NaturePhotography

Photo of the bottom few meters of a gigantic Redwood tree (the largest in the park) with a sign in front providing these impressive details:

What’s good: the context, the history, the detailed analysis, naming the actors who caused the atrocity, naming the opposition, naming those who abdicated responsibility, naming those could have stopped it but didn’t, viewing all of this a bit systemically

The Mystery of Mohammad Tajik.
The statement from Mohammad could be indeed correct as ST Engineering iDirect modem units are commonly used in drones too. The counter statement seems
strange maybe there is a naming confusion. But iDirect VSAT is maybe one of the oldest low-cost VSAT solution.

I still wanna know what Neil Concelman did.
Like, I get that BNC isn't the best RF connector - it's big, bandwidth isnt great, they can be kinda floppy. But naming the connector after your desire to bayonet him seems a bit extreme.

Repository is now public. Right now this is just called Swb, or Simple Web Browser. Open to naming suggestions.
Swb is being written in Vala using WebKitGtk. I've been daily driving Gnome Web since Mozilla's new CEO decided that Mozilla should be an AI company, but I'm cheap (actually quite poor) and have a crappy laptop with a small, low-resolution screen and I hate that there's no way to reduce the size of the interface. That was the original motivation, anyway.

‘Unconstrained’ Trump seems to be on a quest to name most everything after himself
Of course he has, since "Decorum has typically seen presidents wait until after they leave office – or, indeed, until after they have died – for things to be named after them, and it is an honor usually bestowed by their successors."
He's a very smart guy - he knows he's not worthy of any honors, just opprobrium

This is really good skywriter.blue/@eliothiggins.b
"Disordered counterpublics simulate VDA but invert its meaning. 'Verification’ becomes selective sourcing. 'Deliberation' becomes a loyalty test. 'Accountability’ means naming enemies. They look democratic on the surface but accelerate collapse.”
So much of this applies to so many spheres right now, but I see a lot of what I quoted in nominally leftist spaces.

Without naming names: I don't like RSA key issues with mirrors, so two consecutive kernel updates aren't working out properly. Changing mirrors doesn't help either. It was what drove me away 3 years ago; the update to KDE 6 took 3 or 4 days, breaking the whole shebang. Coloring outside the lines sometimes invokes a black and white response by me.

🥳 New Kitten Release
• `KittenComponent` (and thereby `KittenPage`) gains an `emit()` method.
Use this to bubble events from your page to all child components or from any component to all of its child components.
This is useful, for example, for setting the state of a page or a component where each child component knows how to present itself for that state.

(That, in turn, is useful if you want to be able to restore state based on URLs.)

The naming convention…

I’ve lost a lot of respect for Andrewism after his recent upload. It feels disconnected from the reality of working-class life and from anarcho-syndicalism as it actually exists.
This response is a worthwhile read. It doesn’t romanticize work or the working class, but it doesn’t drift into abstract alternatives either. It sits with the fact that we don’t want to be working class, but we are, and that contradiction isn’t something you escape with theory.
