Got my Lao e-visa. All this stuff is electronic now. You upload a scan of your passport and it OCRs all your data into the right fields of a form.
Scanning the shiny plastic bio page of a new US passport can be tricky, though.
I will miss the old-fashioned passport stamps. They're the only way I keep track of where the hell I've been.

I used the new Iphone feature to load my US passport into the wallet.
It worked. But I discovered that my passport was about to expire.
So I discovered that I can renew the passport (and card) online - so I sent for it.
It is rather picky about photographs, but after taking about 30 shots I got one that it would take.
So, in a mere month and $160 expended I'll get my new US passport. I hope.

I am trying to renew my US passport. I sent in an application via their online renewal system. It worked well - except that it is picky about photographs.
Well, the rejected the application because they now do not like the photograph that they had accepted.
And now they tell me dimensions - e.g. head 1.38 inches high. Well, I sent 'em a digital photo and unless they tell me the pixel resolution of their printers I can't tell 1.38 inches from a hole in the ground.

I'm on my third passport. I've visited 27 foreign countries, including China and Russia, plus some territories. I have to admit that the United States leads the world when it comes to xenophobic ignoramuses.

Spent the morning deal with the US Gov't - sheesh.
We had to update our SAM registration - most people have never had to deal with the US Gov't's procurement system and dueling systems of regulations (FARs vs DFARs), not to mention its decades obsolete industrial and product classification codes.
