The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
has been leaving the digital keys to its own cloud storage accounts sitting out in the open, in plain text form,

according to a report from Krebs on Security.
The problem finally got fixed over the weekend, the report says.

"The Star collected 4,242 decisions and directives from municipal websites across Ontario, either as existing PDFs *or by converting text versions into PDFs*" (emphasis mine) and then analyzed the text using an LLM. Points for using LLMs for what they're meant to be used for, but requiring input be in PDF format instead of plain text is *insane*.

Following an official github documentation about integrating Claude with Github MCP ends up with github token in a plain text in ~/.claude.json. Other guides I found did the same, except revealing a different github secrets there.
That means I am really really really surprised that there are so few security incidents like axios. I'd guess the situation is much worse.

We don't need 5 new incompatible protocols to let us build websites in a minimalist manner. You can literally just build a text-only website today with plain HTML. You don't even have to define a background color. If the point is to use technology intentionally, then simply do that.

This week on #ProFed: I implemented the media repository – the foundation for exchanging anything beyond plain text. The Profile Importer now uses it to import and serve avatar and header images.

Honestly, the fact that like 99% of companies still send passwords via email is insane. You can only imagine what other security issues they have.
And when they eventually get hacked, they’ll tell their insurance:
"We did everything in our power to… blah blah blah…"
