After a week of reprimands, some in Congress are having second thoughts
The recent onslaught of disciplinary actions has diminished their effect, said Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota),
who was removed from the Foreign Affairs Committee last Congress.
Republicans unsuccessfully attempted to censure Omar earlier this year for comments accusing conservatives of using Charlie Kirk’s death to advance their political goals and suggesting that Kirk did not support “civil debate.”

I guess the executive power grab attempts in SF government are taking multiple forms. Not only the Commission Streamlining Task Force, but Mayor Lurie and Board President Mandelman have also created this "charter reform working group," where there's no public comment and major city departments are excluded.

I’ve seen posts about how Democratic politicians have to be “punished” and then they’ll shape up — even one horrifying post basically arguing that we need a couple more years for fascism to fully materialize in order to reform our political system.
My dude…this “people will wake up when it’s bad enough” trope doesn’t work. It’s never worked. It’s been failing spectacularly my whole life — and if one Trump term didn’t do it…what will? And how many people’s lives will be destroyed along the way?
That thinking will kill us all.

Content warning: ukpol party defections

Robert Jenrick has been sacked as shadow minister on account of the shadow leader thinking he's thinking of defecting.
Presumably this encourages him to defect really? Even if he wasn't planning to leave, why stay around in a party that can't win and is sacking people on paranoid presumptions that they will leave?
Seems like all the rats at the Conservative party are jumping ship to Reform. People will be voting Reform at the next election and literally getting the exact same ministers as when they voted Conservative at the last one.
This isn't like the usual "Vote X, get Y", where the broken electoral system lets the least popular party in because the popular political wing is divided. This is literally "Vote reform, Reform win, but you get the exact people who were standing as Conservative last time"
Is this really good for Reform? It's voters are trying to avoid voting Tory, surely? Adding all the old tory ministers to their ranks has to hurt rather than help?

The protest movement in Iran,

Though triggered initially by a sudden slide in the country’s currency,
protesters soon demanded political reform and called for the downfall of the government.
🔥Iranian authorities have arrested key members of the protest movement that has rocked the country over the last two weeks,
