Series B, Episode 05 - Pressure Point
AVON: If I can fire at ground level, the beam radiation should be great enough to cut a narrow channel through the sensor mesh. That would give you eight seconds to get from here to the blockhouse. The mesh would start its repair cycle instantly. Take one step off the channel and you're dead. I know it's a slim chance, but it's the best I can come up with.
BLAKE: Let's try it.

Claude 3.7 describes the image as: "This image appears to be from a vintage science fiction television series from the late 1970s or early 1980s. The scene shows four people in distinctive costume attire kneeling or sitting in a grassy outdoor setting with vegetation in the background.

The costumes are quite notable - one person wears a burgundy/red padded outfit, another is in a beige/yellow costume, while the others are dressed in darker clothing. The styling and production aesthetic is char…

Interesting piece on the #Arctic #SeaIce and it's (improving) representation in global climate models by Gavin Schmidt over on @realclimate, I'm not entirely sure all of the improvement is for the right reasons, there are probably compensating biases, it would be interesting to see if the models get the regional signal correct in different parts of the Arctic, but overall I agree with this piece, there have been some big steps forward in global models, the regional level is often not very well represented though.

Current obsession. Have no real need, other than not having a Floyd-equipped rock guitar in my arsenal. But if I were speccing one out it would look a *lot* like this... the skull inlays 😍
There's a mint used one near me that I've been offered a great deal on... 😩

If you're ever going to pay attention to local government elections in England and Wales, these are the ones to watch. (But remember a lot of counts don't even begin until Friday morning - staying up all night would be a bad move, unless you wake up at midnight.)
In a nutshell, first past the post just about copes with two major parties. With three, it can throw up wild swings depending on how support is distributed across constituencies. With FIVE parties polling within a few …

Saw a computer (desktop tower PC) on the side of the road today and stopped to see if there were any useful parts I could pull from it because I thought it would be hilarious to have parts in my NAS from a literal garbage PC on the side of the road.
