Fluctuations of two-dimensional determinantal processes associated with Berezin--Toeplitz operators
We consider a new class of determinantal point processes in the complex plane coming from the ground state of free fermions associated with Berezin--Toeplitz operators. These processes generalize the Ginibre ensemble from random matrix theory. We prove a two-term Szegő-type asymptotic expansion for the Laplace transform of smooth linear statistics. Precise localizations of fast radio bursts (FRBs) are essential for uncovering their host galaxies and immediate environments. We present the milliarcsecond-precision European VLBI Network (EVN) localization of FRB 20240114A, a hyper-active repeating FRB, achieving <90x30 mas (1-sigma) accuracy. This precision places the burst 0.5 kpc from the nucleus of its low-metallicity star-forming dwarf host at a spectroscopic redshift of z = 0.1300. We report charge pickup reaction cross sections for 24 \textit{p}-shell isotopes, including $^{8,9}$Li, $^{10-12}$Be, $^{10,13-15}$B, $^{12,14-19}$C and $^{14,15,17-22}$N, measured at relativistic energies (approximately 900$A$ MeV) on both hydrogen and carbon targets. For the first time, we reveal a universal rapid increase in the charge pickup cross sections of unstable projectiles with isospin asymmetry along several isotopic chains. Unlocking the mystery of Sr synthesis in the early Galaxy through analysis of barium isotopes in very metal-poor stars
We determine the contributions of the rapid (r) and slow (s) neutron capture processes to the Ba isotope mixture, along with Ba, Eu, and Sr NLTE abundances, in a sample of very metal-poor stars. The selected stars formed before the contribution from the main s-process in low- and intermediate-mass stars became significant.
