“Honestly, I feel like web developers are constantly being gaslit into thinking that complex over-engineered solutions are the only option. When the discourse is being dominated by people invested in frameworks and libraries, all our default thinking will involve frameworks and libraries. That’s not good for users, and I don’t think it’s good for us either.”

"There is only one way to read, which is to browse in libraries and bookshops, picking up books that attract you, reading only those, dropping them when they bore you, skipping the parts that drag — and never, never reading anything because you feel you ought, or because it is part of a trend or a movement. Remember that the book which bores you when you are twenty or thirty will open doors for you when you are forty or fifty — and vice versa. Don’t read a book out of its right time for yo…

FreeBSD provides the standard KDE Plasma package, which is the preferred way as recommended by KDE themselves. Nevertheless, you can still uninstall i.e. Discover and Konqueror, which are part of that base package (like I do).
Don't be put off by the inclusion of kde-base-apps in your removal overview, only the relevant parts for that application will be removed. All other apps and libraries will stay put and continue to work.

I would guess that 98% of my microcontroller needs are a cheap board I can program using the Arduino IDE along with any of the zillion of existing libraries out there.
Thanks to Earle Philhower's arduino-pico project I switched to using the $4 USD Raspberry Pi Pico years ago, and I was using the Teensy LC boards before that but those were discontinued. (I like the Teensy boards but they are more than I need for 98% of my projects.)

The fundraising letter I got from #NYPL (New York Public Library) this week has some fantastic news:
They are raising money because of “book checkouts doubling and tripling at some branches”.
People are READING!
People are continuing to read, despite the popular narrative that everyone just wants to sit scrolling video feeds and chatting with bots all day. People want books, people have the attention span to read them, and at the very least some libraries are thriving.
Have hope in people!
#libraries #books #bookstodon #GoodNews #positivity #NYC

I'm lucky in libraries, because of where I live.
My local library "system": Pikes Peak Library District is made up of 14 library locations and 3 mobile libraries that serve 500,000 people living in 2,070 square miles of El Paso County, CO, USA.
But ONLY if you live in this county.
A neighboring county has BUPKIS.
Queens Public Library (New York, USA) $50/year. Accepts non-US residents.
