This Home Assistant thing is a real rabbit hole. I thought I'd just learn something like "a new Docker container", a couple of days of learning and I'd be done. My ass! HA is a freaking Swiss Army knife: I can automate even the damn toaster, and HA will help me create a new scene for it.
If you don't hear from me in the coming weeks, it's because there's no cell service at the bottom of the rabbit hole. Wish me good luck.

I'm way to deep in the research rabbit hole, went all the way to OG proceedings from 1888 because the sources in Wikipedia were questionable (random Time articles).

My latest essay was supposed to be a brief piece on 3 gardens in Kyoto (Shōsei-en, Saihō-ji, and
Matsunoo Taisha). Being a historian, I couldn't resist going down a rabbit hole about the development of the "zen garden" as a concept in the 1930s. That's the way these things go. Link in the comments.

My NVME performance rabbit hole is confusing; one of my two identical drives is half the performance in hdparm -T; I swapped the drives in the slots and the performance follows the drive not the slot. PCIe looks fine with the same link speed/width. NVMe features (nvme get-feature /dev/nvme. -f 0 -H) are the same on both.
Oddly the *latency* is much lower on the slower drive?!! wtf?!

I saw a Hacker News post linking an awesome Amiga graphics site. That site made me fall down the colour cycling rabbit hole and ending up here. These are STUNNING. For those who may be puzzled: Nothing is moved around in these images. There is a fixed palette of e.g. 64 colors and part of that palette starts swapping places. Usually in a wave-like pattern. That is what creates the motion. I haven't inspected these, but I suspect they use more than 64.
