Wegen Visa-Restriktionen: US-Techjobs boomen in Indien
Die restriktive Visa-Politik der Trump-Regierung entfaltet eine ungewollte Wirkung: US-Techkonzerne setzen verstärkt auf Personal in Indien statt den USA.

Stay angry, and also have a dose of level-headedness.
❝We’re in a battle for at least the rest of this decade that will require a very different kind of Democratic Party — not one that is more right or left but one that is both comfortable using power and knows how to do it. So I’m going to take this big step in the right direction I’ve seen over the last month and pocket it and move on to the next battle. Meanwhile, keep purging all the folks who can’t get with the new program.❞ https://mastodon.social/@dangillmor/115527953925050812
The methane menace
Oil executives weighing a potential investment in #Venezuela’s fields may want to check out the view from space.
Satellites have detected enormous amounts of #methane billowing from the country’s abandoned oil rigs,
rusty pipelines and other dilapidated energy infrastructure.

I think his take is basically the right one, and if we seize this moment to make Schumer (or his replacement) absolutely scared shitless about not fighting hard enough, then that’s a win.
Iran’s supreme leader has vowed that authorities will not back down in the face of a rapidly growing protest movement,
setting the stage for an intensified violent crackdown on the second day of a nationwide internet shutdown.
Protests have raged in cities and towns across the country in recent days,
posing a threat to the authority of the regime, which has been significantly weakened since the last large protest movement in the country in 2022.
Another round of demon…
Man, nerves are just shot in Minneapolis right now. Everyone is on edge and frayed. Sightings are flying, rumors are flying, facts are flying. Feels like things are teetering. Everyone is working so hard to hold the community together, but I’m really worried that something is going to break.

If you are wondering what it’s like in Minneapolis / St. Paul right now — •this• is it. This is what we’re living through. https://mastodon.social/@UnicornRiot/115692836095826980
This is exactly the groundwork we need to be laying right now, and I’m delighted to hear it coming from a US Senator (!):
If Trump tries to prevent a fair election from happening, then we need “a true national strike in the sense that, if they do this, if they try to overthrow our democracy, if you are allied with democracy, do not go to work . If you’re a pilot, do not show up. If you drive a train, do not show up. If you’re a teacher, do not show up. We grind the country to a halt.”

They are doing everything they can to make it happen: the endless escalations, the recklessness, the shoddy training, the quotas, the sense of impunity, the masks, the bounty hunters, the right-wing camera crews following them like ducklings, the redoubling of provocations after ICE murdered Good: what does it point to except baiting, a total non-concern for the lives of ICE officers, a wish to get at least one of them shot on camera?
I •think• the most important people for MN residents to call right now are MN Gov Walz and MN AG Ellison. Those numbers again:
Gov: (651) 201-3400€
AG: (651) 296-3353€
My points when I call:
- We don’t trust Trump’s FBI
- We want an independent MN-based investigation of the killing of Good
- Thank you for steps you’re already taking in this direction
- Do more, try harder
- Do so in outright defiance of the FBI if necessary
(To be clear, this is all just from Paul; if I get better guidance from more informed folks, I will share/update.)
