Nile-Chat: Egyptian Language Models for Arabic and Latin Scripts
We introduce Nile-Chat-4B, 3x4B-A6B, and 12B, a collection of LLMs for Egyptian dialect, uniquely designed to understand and generate texts written in both Arabic and Latin scripts. Specifically, with Nile-Chat-3x4B-A6B, we introduce a novel language adaptation approach by leveraging the Branch-Train-MiX strategy to merge script-specialized experts, into a single MoE model. Our Nile-Chat models significantly outperform leading multilingual and Arabic LLMs, such as LLaMa, Jais, and ALLaM, on our…
This week I watched a video about Grist posted by LawrenceSystems and found it to be a good fit in what I've been looking for a while now.
Basically just a spreadsheet with API support for automation with other systems and data collectors. Been using SuiteCRM for a while and it worked well enough but is too clunky and brittle to quickly add/adjust columns or extend functionality.
Thus far have put together some middleware for device inventory management and about to work on …

Social graphs for over 700 movies from the moviegalaxies.com website. Each node represents a character in a movie and each edge is a same-scene appearance between two characters in that movie. The weight gives the number of same-scene appearances. Networks are extracted from movie scripts automatically.
This network has 32 nodes and 134 edges.

I do like nushell a lot, but it’s not good at this. It wants you to conform, and this means you really can’t make big scripts in it. (Some would argue that’s a feature; I disagree.)

I have to use #Gitlab CI at $work, and I'm surprised how clunky it is.
CI Components are not real components, they just dump YAML into a global namespace, needing hacks to customize them.
There's no reusability at the granularity of Github Actions (other than concatenation of bash scripts).
I keep running into dead ends. I check Gitlab's own bug tracker to see if an…

I'm currently bisecting isc-dhcpd to figure out where the javastation boot breaks; it's hideous - the versions I'm on use manually coded configure scripts with switches on Linux major version (2 being largest) and have headers that need extern's scattering in for a modern compiler for some reason.

Two options -
1. You don't turn them off I nuke your bookmark (Looking at you ABC news) and I will look at news elsewhere.
2. You respect my settings and auto play is disabled and I keep visiting now and then.
Any bets they choose option 1.

Make sure your backup scripts aren't trying to archive things like /proc or /sys or /dev/urandom
2nd note to self:
Creating chroot jails for things can cause files like /proc or /sys or /dev/urandom to show up in places you might not originally have been expecting them to.
I have officially surrendered to Chromium, losing out on stable Violentmonkey/Stylus which sucks HARD for tweak scripts but at least I can manage keyboard shortcuts for extensions without bending over backwards, seriously how has FF still not fixed this shit? New in #Python world: #setuptools now vendors deep dependencies with LGPL license. Not that I do mind (but some people and companies do!) — but these dependencies aren't even used! I mean, `autocommand` is just a dependency of some scripts in `jaraco.text` that aren't used by setuptools.
