Just finished reading "The Language of Spells" by Garrett Weyr with illustrations by Katie Harnett. An *excellent* book, not high fantasy but instead a tale of an ordinary kid who happens to get caught up in some extraordinary business when she makes a friend.
I absolutely love the parenting example that the book sets, the ways it deals with grief, its unique conception of magic (and of dragons), and its steadfast commitment to the personal over the epic perspective.
Meets and exceeds the "will I recommend it to my kids" bar that quite a few things I've read recently have failed to clear.

Three hours or so of faffing and I've managed to get it mostly working.
Turned the Steam Machine to the beta stream, deleted all network config, turned a "Force Supplicant" mode off. Dunno what turned it on.
Lots of rebooting and retrying and re-configuring.
Was hoping this machine/VR-headset might be something I could recommend to non-techy family but this is far too shoddy.
I have successfully used the dongle to stream No Man's Sky a couple of times, and it seems to reboot now into a working state.
It's not really massively better than just streaming over the normal house wifi where the repeater is in line-of-sight anyway. Weird seeing mpeg compression artifacts in your peripheral vision isn't it.
Seems to crash within 30 minutes or so of No Man's Sky play so far. Might be the game's fault rather than the streaming combinations. Stays crashed somehow even after alt-f4 closing it. Have to reboot.
Anyway. Process but still feels shonky and no way I can recommend this to newbies or the less technically proficient.
Battery needs a recharge now anyway.
