As Wordpress releases their new version with special AI features, I'm feeling pretty glad and smug that I moved off of that platform to use a static site generator when CEO Matt Mullenweg was going mad and suing everyone and their Blocks editor was getting more and more crappy and less and less like a simple Vim edit.
As soon as you turn off comments, and don't have adverts, there's not really much reason to generate each page on the fly anyway. What a waste of compute.
Hurray for not using Wordpress!

Working a bit more on my static site generator this morning. There's still a few bugs to fix, but it's far enough along that I'm starting to port my old blog over to it.
So far so good. It's nice and simple, and the css and templates are just built right into the binary. There's no development server and no development mode where it watches for changes and rebuilds the site. I don't think I'll actuator miss those extras. The resulting site has no Javascript …

Once again resisting(?) the urge to write my own static site generator.
As you do on a Friday night.

Does anyone here have tried Zine (static site generator)?
I would like to port a recursive template I had on Hugo but I'm puzzled.

With this particular case of whatever’s going on with Bandcamp, well, I've been really impressed with some of the work that @… is doing! And I've been really happy with self-hosting my own recordings using an absurdly bespoke SSG.
But I’m not going to go after may favorite musicians who are on Bandcamp and tell them “I refuse to buy your music now!” and “Just use Mirlo!” or “Just build your own static site generator!” — because that is an asshole thing to do.
