The 60-year-old man lying on the street, as far as anyone knew, was just a janitor hit by a drunk driver.
There was no mention of it on the local news, no obituary in the morning paper.
His name might have been Anonymous. But it wasn’t.
His name was Peter Putnam.
He was a physicist who’d hung out with Albert Einstein, John Archibald Wheeler, and Niels Bohr,
and two blocks from the crash, in his run-down apartment, where his partner, Claude, was startled by a scr…

I do have a monitor that supports variable refresh rate (VRR) and multiple AMD Radeon based systems that support VRR, even on Linux. The crux is that due to licensing issues the open source driver doesn't support HDMI 2.1 which is required for VRR over HDMI. Which wouldn't be an issue as the monitor does offer a DisplayPort 1.2 port.
But I connect through a dockingstation. And when using a dockingstation it must also support VRR. And there seem to only be two or three dockingst…

Weakening NEPA without replaciing it with something better is no abundance agenda.
This highway widening would foreclose future transit expansion and probably make traffic worse for most drivers. It is opposed by both local governments it goes through. NEPA is the only veto point.
A transit project with the same local opposition would be dead on arrival.

A few years later (with some more experience of hearing Scots spoken) I read it without the dictionary and, while I was occasionally guessing at words from context, I went with the flow and loved it.
