One of my VR Lighthouses died last month. These things are gyroscopically spinning 24 hours a day for, what, a decade now? Nearly.
No wonder. Mostly the industry seems to be settling on using head-mounted cameras rather than sweeping infra-red beams and receptors on the head anyway.
It is true that lighthouses give accurate positioning, but means I can't easily take the headset next door, say. Or to a party.
So inside-out, as they call it, is fine for the headset now and mostly okay for the hand-controllers.
But it offers no solution at all for the foot-trackers and hip-tracker that I need for puppetting the characters in the #vr #slimeVR #trackers

I was unreasonably giddy when I stumbled across the real-time discussion of implementation of a feature I use regularly in Shotcut — the proposal, the math, the initial implementation, and then how it evolved into the feature I use.
There's something so cool about seeing people nerd out about stuff and seeing development happen in the open.

Audio Alignment Implementation

Doctors are being arrested in Iran
for helping save the lives of some of the tens of thousands injured

Good Morning #Canada
On February 28th, 1838, a small band of revolutionaries crossed into Canada from Alburg, Vermont, and immediately declared the independence of Lower Canada (Quebec). An Anglo-Quebecer physician named Dr. Robert Nelson, who was elected general of the insurrectionists and president of the future Canadian republic, distributed copies of a declaration of independence and issued proclamations of new legislation. It's doubtful the newly liberated Canadians had time to read all this as Nelson and his band of 300 men were pushed back across the border in hours, and promptly arrested by the Americans. After his release Nelson tried again in November of the same year only to fail even more spectacularly. A reminder that #Democracy is fragile and has to be protected and defended, even today.
The Dictionary of Canadian Biography gives us an excellent view of Nelson's life and failed rebellions, to be enjoyed over your morning coffee.
