April 8 is slated to be my first weekday off work for recreational reasons in 27 years. Every other over that time has been for holidays, funerals, family obligations, school-out coverage, Kyle’s surgeries, etc.
I’m going to get into SWMBO's brand new company car, head for I-75, and drive south into the path of totality hunting for clear skies. SWMBO is welcome to come along, but I expect she won't. Her job has neither slack nor chill. (But excellent benefits.)

Update on Bell cuts.
Looks like CTV News Vancouver Island will be losing its weekday noon, and all weekend news programming completely.
"weekday noon newscasts at all CTV stations except Toronto would end. It is also scrapping its 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts on weekends at all CTV and CTV2 stations except Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.”

Funny thing this morning. I dreamt that the alarm went off, and it woke me up, an hour earlier than I needed.
Her: It did go off 45 minutes ago, at 6am. I heard it too.
Me: no, it was not set to go off at 6am.
Her, glaring: It. Woke. Me. Up.
Me checking: so my phone doesn't know which weekday it is? Look here, it's set for Friday, 7am.
So either the built in alarm/clock app on my phone is utterly untrustworthy, or my dreams are very loud.

"Was on the Palisades Parkway tonight. A freaking weekday evening and it was totally congested. Seems like you need to have fewer cars in NJ. Maybe you need some congestion pricing for that road so only people who really need to be on it are on it."
