A form of personal transportation, like a Tesla, but produced with simple bio-engineering out of proteic polymers rather than metal and plastic. Normally for a single passenger, but could carry two in a pinch, and some modest amount of goods. Totally green-powered, and could be recharged even in transit. Superb off-road agility and can drive through 3-foot-deep water. Drive-by wire and voice activation. Available in several colors.

A decentralized communications technology that does not depend on routing digital packets through a physical network of towers, gateways, microwave beams, and optical fibers. The text to be transmitted is encoded with a multiband frequency/amplitude modulation scheme, transmitted by molecular density waves, and decoded with a pair of miniaturized spectral filter banks implanted under the receiver's skull. When I want my mind blown, I compare former world's largest supercomputers to the tech I have around.
ASCI Red, the world's fastest supercomputer until the year 2000, was 150m² large, consumed 850,000W of power …and was slower than an iPhone 14 Pro, which uses ~6W.
ASCI Red had over 1TB of RAM, which may still sound impressive, except that RAM was 2× slower than the iPhone's 1TB SSD.

however, the best part of it is that it's also called a flowsnake 😃.

ALMA, as part of the Event Horizon Telescope, is unveiling a new image of our Milky Way's supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A*, in which strong magnetic fields can be seen…
The most exciting part is that this hints to a jet that would be hidden from our vantage point in our galaxy… but imagine that! We might be like M87, just at a smaller scale!

Event Horizon Telescope image of Sag A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy.

The background is mostly black, but a kind of hairy, slightly squashed donut shape in orange can be seen. The central blackness is the shadow of the Sag A*.

The hairy aspect comes from visualising the strength of the magnetic field.
Messier object 87 by Hubble space telescope.
This is the galactic core shown as a composite image of visible and infrared observations in order to resolve the blue jet.
The field of view is about 1.5 arc minutes across, the jet extends to about a third of an arc minute (or 20 arc seconds) with a width of about 2 arc seconds (absolute length 5 kly at a distance of 53 Mly).

Today I was looking for an image of a person being carried on a sedan chair, to illustrate an article I'm writing. When I did a search on on Adobe Stock for "sedan chair", it showed me dozens of pictures of people picking up garbage, and a few pictures of kittens, and nothing else. I found this completely baffling.
Next I went to search the Wikimedia Commons. And it was there I was reminded that another word for "sedan chair" is "litter".
