New York City has imposed a 15mph speed limit on ebikes.
I'm not worried though, because where I live I bike on a street with a 25mph speed limit and cars routinely go 30mph or faster.
I know this because I bike on the road at 25mph and cars go flying past me.
So if they don't enforce it for cars are they really gonna enforce it for bikes?

If you compress larger files and you care about smaller size, you may want to use xz with the highest "-9" option. Takes longer to compress, but you may not care about a few minutes extra. In the past, I didn't do that because I read that it takes more memory to decompress, so one might be worried that whoever downloads it may not be able to decompress it. How much memory is that? ~65MB due to a 64MB dictionary. I don't think we have to worry too much about that.

Whenever people are worried about criminals using #privacy-oriented software, I'm wondering who do they mean by "criminals"?
Let me point out that in some countries people verbally opposing the authoritarian regime are "criminals", while rapists become presidents. Or people peacefully protesting against genocide are "criminals", while nazis openly calling for violence are model citizens.
So yeah, if I were to develop such software, I'd rather have it used by "criminals". Because, guess what, true criminals will get their hands on that kind of software anyway.

I don't fully understand all the ins and outs of the original connection between MOU and "Your Party", but evidently MOU was something else originally and then got lumbered with looking after YP money and membership data.
Main takeaway, it does seem that the "Your Party" contingent are remarkably bad at admin!

Across communities worldwide, youth are designing innovative adaptation solutions focused on justice and inclusion. They're mobilizing action at scale, demanding accessible finance, and ensuring no one gets left behind in the climate transition.

When we downsized we worried about squeezing more bodies into beds when our 2 daughters, son-in-law, and granddaughter come to visit. Like financial transactions, barter transactions are treated as taxable supplies for VAT purposes as well in the EU.
Italy has considered that handing over personal details in exchange for services, as e.g. in the case of Facebook, is barter, and therefore VAT-able. If they succeed in making that work, other EU member states are bound to follow. Big tech platforms are worried, especially as the EU Commission agrees with the Italian stance. Interesting.

Yeah, so the GNU #make jobserver protocol is trivial, which can be a blessing and a curse. It puts the job management entirely on the clients, which means that they must reliably return job tokens, or otherwise the jobserver will be left with no jobs available and everything will hang. The make documentation is clear on this:
> Your tool should be sure to write back the tokens it read, even under error conditions. This includes not only errors in your tool but also outside influences such as interrupts (SIGINT), etc. You may want to install signal handlers to manage this write-back.
#NinjaBuild jobserver implementation may not handle this correctly, but fortunately it does. The irony is, it turns out that GNU make does not…

Good Morning #Canada
Many people, that includes you, are worried about #Skynet assuming control of all military systems, but what happens when it starts harvesting our crops? Canadian agricultural scientists are blindly charging ahead in their efforts to fill our farms with robots. It started with self-driving tractors pulling conventional equipment and evolved to fully autonomous vehicles that plow, plant, fertilizer, weed, and harvest. Organic farming is seeing the biggest benefits as robots can hand weed 2 hectares per day, eliminating herbicides.... and farm workers. Almost 15% of Canada’s dairy farms use robotic milking cubicles where cows enter when they need milking, with no cold human hands involved. IMO, using robots to replace hard back breaking labour or tedious driving of equipment up and down a farm field is a good use of technology. But I hope the tech is not priced out of the reach of small farms.
