I've been struggling to sum up this article in a social-media-friendly way, but it's something like this: magic and weirdness are about things that are *not supposed to happen*.
When you are, essentially, one of those things yourself... it's not surprising if magical narratives appeal, and if people sometimes view you through that sort of lens.

For as long as I've been thinking about #WeirdPride, I've been aware that #magic is never far away.
People who experience the world in unusual ways are often seen as #weird, and there's a long (and often uneasy) history of people associating that with supernatural beings, and spellcasting.
I think everyone probably needs a bit of magic in their lives - some wonder, things to remind them of the awesomeness and mysteries of existence. Some people seem content with very little of it, while others can't help but overflow with that stuff.
I try not to begrudge people beliefs that help them make it through the day, but a lot of those beliefs scare me...
I tried to marshall these thoughts, and others, for the #WeirdPrideDay site.
