Last Tuesday, a spokesman of Dutch state-owned Gasunie said that the historical low in gas storage filling (11% of capacity) was no problem. But, he added, 'we wouldn't want a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz'.
Now, Gasunie says that the attack came at an unfortunate moment, and that our gas may become very expensive once more.

Bread People, what did I do wrong?
While the photos look nice, this loaf turned out just slightly wet/gummy feeling.
I did wait well over an hour before slicing. I have some ideas.
This recipe was about 94% hydration, as opposed to the 84% hydration I've been using.
Also, this was in a 2 quart dutch oven and I wonder if it is just too small for this loaf. (Over 740 grams)
Oh, I also did a two-day cold ferment.

EV mandates should be 'sold’ as an affordability measure! Because they are!
No, I don't mean grants, I mean everyday use. Real impacts on your pocket book. How much money would you save if you *never* went to a gas station. Just think about that for second.
Then we can do the math.
My 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric just passed 251152km (palindrome!) yesterday and gets around 6km/kWh on average.
I pay about $0.13/kWh at home to charge so that's $0.02/km. That is $5,023.04 in total energy expenses so far.
Our 2012 Toyota Prius C is at 270,000km and gets about 5.5L/100km or 0.055L/km. At (a discounted) $1.25/L that’s $0.04/km or $10,800 in total energy expenses so far.
Per kilometre the EV is half the cost to 'fuel' than one of the most fuel efficient gas cars out there.
In general, why would *anyone* choose something that costs double to run!?
And yet, the government doesn't sell this as ‘affordability’ it sells it as 'environmental responsibility'.
Let's be honest, they do that because they *know* the environmental message is *less* motivating than money.
Now I said at the beginning, "imagine" never going to the gas station. Obviously that doesn't mean you're fueling for free... but there is another overlooked aspect to this.
Fueling your car is a day to day thing. It's one of the biggest pulls on people's bank accounts precisely because it is such a frequent cost.
Now imagine if that 'bill' was just rolled into your home electricity bill. Which you could do other things to reduce cost overall?
EVs are not just an environmental game changer, they are a financial one for the average person.
That is why oil companies are throwing absolutely everything they have at government (and also fomenting fascism) to keep their good times going, at our expense.

Went out canvassing with the Green Party in ward next door.
The candidates seem nice and meeting other green members is nice, but the actual process of going around knocking on people's doors isn't really a great deal of fun for me.
Mostly nobody home, or else maybe peering through the spy-hole feeling intimidated by me I guess? Hard to tell.
Spoke to mostly Labour voters who claim not to be sure what they'll do next time. Couple of folks already Green.
Nobody around here is gonna vote Conservative or Liberal or Reform of course. "Your Party" not likely to get it together in time to even stand. It's a race to see how many Green and Independent opposition councilors can be elected to avoid a Labour full house. 47 Lab to 3 Green seats last time. Less than 200 votes in it in that seat. Probably will do better this time, maybe even win the seat. At least make some of the safe Labour seats a bit less safe.
Most exciting part was when the flat over the road went on fire and we had to call the fire brigade and a triplet of fire engines and couple of cop cars turned up to deal with it. Started with smelling smoke and wondering if that flat was on fire, by the time the fire fighters turned up remarkably quickly (someone else already called I imagine) there were flames licking at the windows.
An exploding e-scooter battery someone was saying, but dunno how they knew.
Nice to share a drink in the pub with the green crew after, but dunno that this canvassing lark is for me. I felt like either a spare part, or just backup muscle probably intimidating people into not opening the doors.
Probably I'd enjoy it more if I could get into an argument but apparently that's rare and the advice is to disengage anyway.

Daleks, in the future, are teaming up with the heads of the other galaxies to overtake the Solar system and destruct time, and the Doctor's only got Steven (a pilot from the 24th Century) , Katerina (a slave girl from ancient Troy), and a local soldier to help.
The guardian of our Solar system has betrayed us to the Daleks! He's mined 50 years worth of Terrainium secretly from Uranus to power the core of the Dalek Time Destructor.
The Daleks say "Execute" when they have found someone guilty of negligence, vs just when they are a pest to be exterminated.
The doctor nips in, under disguise, to investigate the council, steals the Terranium and the president's ship, then gets the team stranded on the Solar system's prison planet.
The prisoners try and raid the ship but the Doctor has set a trap and electrocutes the invaders, just in time for them to fix the ship and escape.
Only one prisoner has stowed away on board.
[Then there's a episode still missing, in which apparently Katerina wrestles the prisoner into the air-lock and they are both spaced. The Doctor and Peter return to Earth to warn about the Daleks.]
They arrive on Earth (future earth remember, but all the computers have giant tape drives and knobs) as an experiment on mice is in progress.
I guess the experiment was to try and make mice turn into negative images screaming in slow-motion and then bounce up and down as they are transmitted through space many light years away. And the Doctor, Steven, and some security guard chasing them get sent along too. With the Daleks following on in their ships.
The Daleks exterminate the mice 😔
There's 8 ft tall invisible creatures on this planet so the mice were gonna be in trouble anyway. The Doctor beats them off with sticks before being apprehended by Daleks.
[Then there's four still-missing episodes in which the Doctor and Steven steal a Dalek ship, trick the Daleks with a fake Terrainium core, meet the Monk who attempts revenge, and celebrate Xmas on a silent film set. All with Daleks giving chase]
The security guard and the Monk are still with them in the next archived episode, when they are in a Egyptian tomb for some reason and the companions including the monk are captured.
The doctor faces the Daleks to negotiate his companions' return.
At the hostage exchange the Doctor hands over the core as the ancient Egyptians attack the Daleks. It's a slaughter of course. All the Egyptians die, but they made a good distraction and the Doctor skips off.
He's knicked the Monk's Tardis' directional compass so the Monk goes to who knows what random place now.
The Doctor aims to try and materialize the Tardis at the point the Daleks are likely to use that Terranium, to take over the galaxy and destruct time, but seems like the Tarids fails.
[And then there's another two still-missing ones in which the security guard ages to death in a time-mishap, and an entire planet is wiped of all life to thwart the Daleks. The Doctor and Steven lament the senseless deaths of the three of them that they cared about.]
Crikey. I guess they used to bounce around in time and space more during a story when it was twelve 20 minute episodes. That Prison Planet was there only to be landed upon, have the Doctor electrocute some people, and then leave with a stowaway. The 8ft tall invisible creatures are in like 2 scenes.
Incredible body counts. Just absolute carnage compared to most New Who.
The background of mega-death while the protagonists lament the death of only their own reminds me of the way the contemporary news will focus on one marooned soldier over the deaths of hundreds. Humanize only their own.
The Monk is a good candidate for a return. He's got this great Frankie Howerd like mischievous campness. Exited this story with a randomizer on his tardis vowing revenge.
