Green light.
#photography

It's dark. On the other side of an intersection, several cars are lined up at the traffic lights; their headlights are brilliant but diffuse, and reflect on the dark pavement, which has distinct ripples in the near field. Behind the cars, miscellaneous white signs. The traffic light is visible, and is green; also there is a white "walk" glyph. In the top right, a street light, also diffuse. In the top center, a curtained window glows. To the left, a H&Z market, a convenience store, glows white …

Right, that's the record player in place and running! Anyone suggestions on the right (non-poncy) way to clean records and keep it happy? Some, like this one have been in jackets for a long time but are relatively clean; but I also have a big box of singles that probably more careful attention.
Now, the only bit of highfi equipment I need to look at is the Reel-to-reel player (which there's no longer room in that cabinet for)

A record turntable, a pioneer PL-15R, with a record playing. The player has 70s faux wood as it's surround, and the player itself has a black base, and black and silver controls. On top of a silver platter is a record with a bright red label. A translucent lid is hinged upwards.
A hifi cabinet, it's about 5ft tall, and probably 3ft ish wide. It's just wide enough for the record player (in the other pic) to sit on top. The cabinet is a dark faux wood, with an open door. Inside there's a radio, a cassette deck, an amplifier and a graphics equalizer. A light glows on the amplifier, and the graphics equalizer has many lights on it's sliders and a frequency display.

me: *low whistles*
me: "Damn, check out THOSE bollards!"
8yo: "What?"
me: "These metal things. they're nice, aren't they? No drivers parking on this sidewalk!"
8yo: *lays down on one*
8yo: "Yeah, they're good, I guess."

A manhattan street corner at night. It's fairly dark (what's up w/ the lack of lights??), but along the border of the sidewalk are some metal bollards that are rectangles on one side, and 5 sides on the other (one sloped side that you can lean on) on the other. They're spaced about 3ft apart, and they're probably 15" wide. One bollard basically divides the sidewalk in half.
Another angle of the bollards, this time taken FROM the street corner towards the end of the block. The bollards extend the entire length of the block, at least 30 metal bollards visible but you can't really see how many more go down due to distance and people walking on the sidewalk. The vertical side of the bollards face out towards the street, and then 45deg angled side faces towards the building.
Another shot taken from the street corner, this time facing the street and crosswalk. One bollard sits in the middle of the curb ramp top landing, which is absolutely an ADA violation. The ramp tactile mat also faces out towards the middle of the intersection rather than facing the crosswalks, but again - fuck disabled people, amirite?

But at least the bollards are nice!

The #roundhouse, now, at last, with electric lights (from its own solar panels).

The inside of the roundhouse; there are now three spotlights shining upwards into the conical wooden roof structure. The rafters are rough roundwood; the sarking between them is also, consciously, rough and waney edged.

The lights, projected into the roof, give a warm glow to the space which is perfectly adequate for most purposes without being excessively bright.
The roundhouse from the back, at night. Golden light spills out from the glazed back door, from one of the rear windows, and from the rooflight at the peak of the roof; behind, the sky retains the last glow of sunset.
The rounfhouse from the front, at night. Light shines out through the glazed front door, through the windows on either side of it, and from the rooflight.
The roundhouse from my house, at night; like a bright star on the eastern horizon.

ORAC: The chances are that had the game continued as it should have done, I would have won control of the galaxy on a probability of ten thousand four hundred and fifty to one.
TARRANT: Orac, it was only a game.

Claude Sonnet 3.7 describes the image as: "The image shows hands interacting with a transparent acrylic or plastic device that appears to be some kind of experimental apparatus or musical instrument. The hands, wearing a light green or mint-colored sleeve, are manipulating controls or components inside the clear box, which contains various tubes, wires, and electronic elements. Some small red lights are visible inside the device. The apparatus has multiple cylindrical components arranged inside…
