I have no sympathy for Maduro or his regime, and would be happy for Venezuelans to replace it, but this looks very much like a takeover of a sovereign country for economic exploitation by force. And (yet another) terrible "might is right" precedent.

Mein Vater war (guter) Kunde im Mitarbeiter-Shop des Unternehmens, bei dem er 2004 nach 35 Jahren Betriebszugehörigkeit in Rente ging. Zuletzt hat er dort 2018 oder 2019 eingekauft, im Januar 2023 ist er verstorben. Ich habe den Shop mehrfach darüber informiert. Kurz vor Weihnachten erneut Werbepost an die Adresse des im Frühjahr 2022 verkauften Elternhauses. Ich überlege jetzt, mal den Datenschutzzuständigen ausfindig zu machen und anzufragen, ob das da alles DSGVO-konform abläuft.

We are not getting independent (of the US) foreign policies until we have taken charge of our security and of critical financial and technology infrastructure.

So, wie Audiophile um Rock-Platten aus den späten 1990ern und den 2000ern einen großen Bogen machen (zu Sound-Matsch gemastert wegen Loudness-War), werden Bibliophile irgendwann mal bevorzugt Bücher kaufen, die vor 2023 erschienen sind. Weil man da weitgehend sicher sein kann, dass diese Bücher noch ohne AI-Unterstützung und ganz sicher nicht von einer AI alleine geschrieben wurden. #justthinkin

Yeah. It's even more sad for us living in the EU. We don't get to have a sovereign foreign policy until we have cut the dependency on the US for security, financial infra and tech platforms. Working discretely (and far too slowly) on it. Will it be better afterwards? Maybe, not sure.
