A quick 40-minute #FreeCAD project today morning that just finished printing (more than 12 hours!) and is now assembled - air filter with a circular HEPA filter and a silent computer fan. Tomorrow will print the bottom adapter and it’s good to go. With the specced airflow of 83 m3/h and power consumption of 3w, this will be quite a nice and quiet addition to the home.

Assembled air cleaner: cylindrical HEPA filter, 3D-printed adapter, and a 12V computer fan.

A library close to us offers #3D printing service. You send them the design and they will print it for you, and then you come and pick it up. I still need to gather details as to what are the limitations around this service, but at first glance, pretty cool!

Today’s possibly impossible project. Un-hairball the 3D printer.
Left it printing for a couple of hours without looking and that’s what I got.
Hard to see how I can remove this blob without destroying crucial parts. Some wires went already. The built in heater doesn’t heat the plastic that far away, and the hair dryer I tried isn’t hot enough. Sigh.

Animated 3D model of circular wave inteference. The two wave origins have different amplitudes, dropoff rates. phases, and wavelengths.

... for making animations simpler, the cycle period is the same, though.
OpenSCAD code for the wave interference 3D model, mesh generation portion only (i.e. excluding the boring polyhedron generation stuff).

At each mesh point, the distance from the wave origins is calculated. This distance is then used to determine the cycle and amplitude of the waves, which are added together to create height values.

And there it is. I had this wild idea on Monday, now I have a physical object. I learned Fusion 360 and 3D printing this week. Now I can make furniture. The front of this nightstand is a design made in Illustrator, and it locks into the drawer itself. If you want a different handle, there is a swapping system. The nightstand can be broken down into parts for shipping. Next stop: larger prototypes. #3DPrinting
