For years, China’s government has used what’s known as the “Great Firewall” to censor the internet inside its country and block access to select foreign websites. We investigate GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure membranes with a metasurface made up of a grating of two-dimensional electron system (2DES) strips. Experiments have revealed a strong plasma resonance in the transmission of the metasurface.
