Direct Imaging Discovery of a Substellar Companion Orbiting the Accelerating Variable Star, HIP 39017
We present the direct imaging discovery of a substellar companion (a massive planet or low-mass brown dwarf) to the young, $γ$ Doradus-type variable star, HIP 39017 (HD 65526). The companion's SCExAO/CHARIS JHK ($1.1-2.4μ$m) spectrum and Keck/NIRC2 L$^{\prime}$ photometry indicate that it is an L/T transition object. Recently, Matsuhira, Matsusaka, and Tsuchida revisited old studies on the integrality of $k$-Göbel sequences and showed that the first 19 terms are always integers for any integer $k\ge 2$. In this article, we further explore two topics: Ibstedt's $(k,l)$-Göbel sequences and Zagier's asymptotic formula for the $2$-Göbel sequence, and extend their results.

We present our optical photometric observations of the 2022 eruption of the recurrent nova U Scorpii (U Sco) using 49,152 data points over 70 d following the optical peak. We have also analyzed its soft X-ray (0.3--1 keV) light curve by the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory.
