Hot, hot, hot. I am glad we replaced our AC (failing) last year. On top of that we have two dehumidifiers going and they are emptied twice a day and I suspect for the next few days three times daily.
Be sure to slow down and hydrate. If you have AC and a neighbor doesn't check up on them and maybe let them visit a bit to cool down. Neighbor here has a working AC (big sigh of relief).

Anyway my main point about AC is that it’s just as necessary as heating, perhaps more necessary (cold is a lot more survivable than heat).
And it’s weird to me (as a European) that a lot of other Europeans have this aversion against it.

It can also cause brain damage in you, your family and pets.
Don’t dismiss this as “it’s only a day or two”.
The only way to be safe is to install AC in your home. Heatwaves are only going to get worse in the future.
There’s affordable portable units that you can easily set up on hot days that vent out a window opening.
They plug in to wall and can cool down a single room to more reasonable temps so you have place to stay cooler, plus they can also often double as heaters in case your heating breaks down in winter or you need some extra warmth.
