When I heard that Microsoft were getting out of the wireless split keyboard business, I did fair lament.
The only good thing they ever made, and they were gonna stop making it! My poor wrists!
I ordered a backup one immediately.
It has lived in a cupboard for years until now, when the treadmil-computer gets the old one, so the standing-desk gets the backup-one.
I don't think of my self as someone who looks as the keys at all. My focus is on the screen and the backspace button is hit more often than my glance goes to the keys.
The print actually wears off in no time at the corners. My fingers sweat acid or something. Dunno. They're mostly blank on the home-row.
But I guess I look more than I think I do because this is actually confusing.
There's symbols I don't know how to type written on on keys like [ and ] and { and } .
The M is where the ; should be.
The keyboard's main gig is that it's curved so nicely for my fingers so the actual key-caps aren't swap-able.
There's a euro-sign on the e.
"Impr. ecran" it says on one of them, only with accents I dunno how to type.
Hey ho. Good job I don't think I look at them much then. We will be testing that assumption.

Gehe nach vorn zum Leiter der Veranstaltung, bzw. der Gruppe. Klaus ist bereits seit einer Stunde zugange, „Ich verstehe das nicht, ich mache das hier so wie immer“. Ich stelle ein paar Fragen, wo ist die Fernbedienung, was ist das hier für ein Kasten, wo das Kabel vom Laptop reingeht, usw. Nach 5 Minuten steht das Bild zum Vortragenden aus Oer-Erkenschwick und ich werde mit Applaus von den 50-60 Leuten (auch Frauen) im Auditorium in die Sitzplatzsuche entlassen.

Wie genau waren eigentlich die Reaktionen nachdem Jacques Chirac 2002 Jean-Marie Le Pen haushoch im zweiten Wahlgang der französischen Präsidentschaftswahl geschlagen hatte?
(Tatsächlich glaube ich ja, dass es aus dem gestrigen Erfolgen in Serbien und Brasilien etwas zu lernen gibt, aber vielleicht nicht, dass Faschismus und Autoritarismus jetzt an der Wahlurne besiegt wurden.)

So how's that tunnel-shooter game coming along then Pre?
I have successfully made it run as a standalone Frame VR game.
Completely failed when trying to do so by compiling it for windows/proton. I suspect because of some of the ImGUI stuff failing.
And failed for different reasons when trying to build it for ARM/linux native on the thing. But that time definitely because of the ImGUI stuff I'd lazily included because interface options menu programming is tedious.
So instead I did the tedious thing for a week to build the godot-native UI, rip out the ImGUI stuff, and build enough settings menus to reduce graphics and physics settings.
There's a steam app Steam Devkit Client or some such name. You use that to upload the project-directory over to the Steam Frame as a Steam App.
And it works!
Feels pretty nice already really, but really quite frame-droppy at the most hectic times.
I think this is mostly the Godot physics system which is nice to use but apparently quite CPU costly compared to what I need really.
I just got the two collision cases really: Proximity, and tunnel-wall.
Godot's physics can build a platformer game in 3d and model the roughness of the friction in a bouncing ball.
But it's not particularly good for a tunnel in space where almost none of that matters and only our special-case of bouncing from the tunnel-wall needs to be done, and we can take advantage of the tunnel-segmentation to reduce physics combination explosions.
So the next thing to rip out and replace already is the everything that uses Godot's physics engine and replace it with simpler faster bouncier tunnel-physics.
