We're at the top of the Florence Duomo Cupola climb. There's VERY little room between the outer and inner domes. Tall, older American men are banging their heads.

More than 25,000 residents in three provinces have been evacuated as dozens of wildfires remain active and affect air quality in parts of Canada and the US, according to officials.
Most of the evacuated residents were from Manitoba, which declared a state of emergency last week.
About 17,000 people there were evacuated by Saturday, along with 1,300 in Alberta.

Nice climb up the grade over Breckenheim past Wildsachsen to Bremthal, then back—woosh!—down to Auringen, through Medenbach, and across the multi-use recreation paths to Nordenstadt (home). Taunus foothills, greater Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany.

I'm standing with my Canyon Endurace along a green meadow on a gravel road near Bremthal, Hesse, Germany. It's a beautiful late spring afternoon and about 25° Celsius. I'm wearing a phosphorescent-green "kit." My bike is deep purple (it looks black here). There is a grove of low-growth trees behind me and to my right. My angular late-afternoon shadow across the path adds an interesting touch to the photo. The photo was taken by a passerby, a man hiking with his female partner.
