From various rumors and sources it appears that Open AI - a company organized under Delaware law but with HQ in California - is the cause of the tripling of computer memory prices and shortages.
Word is that Open AI bought up all of the large wafers from Samsung and Hynix that are used to make memory. The intention seems to be to corner the market in order to hobble Open AI's competition.
I am not an expert in either Federal or State laws on anti-competitive practices.

last night around 10 PM the line to get into necto (local disco) went all the way down the block and around the corner. the temperature was in the teens (like, ten below celsius), headed toward single digits. i saw a lot of bare legs and bare shoulders in that line. brrrr!!!!

I didn't forget about a weigh in commitment, or avoiding sharing the gory details. We discovered that our 30 year old bathroom scale didn't survive our house move. One corner was badly dented and compressed so we had to replace it.
Below is my first weigh in on a fancy digital scale, from 9am this morning. I wore socks to spare you sensitive types my poorly manicured feet. I'll likely only do this once a month so no need to block me yet.
