Series A, Episode 13 - Orac
BLAKE: Zen, surface conditions?
ZEN: Tolerable. The land masses are arid and support only primitive plant life. Nine tenths of the planet is covered by water which is highly acidic. The level of the oceans is constantly rising and they now virtually cover all traces of the cities built by early civilizations.

Claude 3.7 describes the image as: "This image shows a scene from what appears to be the classic British science fiction series "Blake's 7." The setting is the interior of a spacecraft, likely the flight deck of the Liberator, with its distinctive control panels and futuristic design elements.

The scene depicts two people in the ship's control room - one wearing dark clothing with a green garment, and another in a red outfit. They appear to be operating or examining the ship's controls. The s…

Only one way to go here, always forward... just as in life!
(This is the equally stunning & adventurous ridge between Feigenkopf and Große Klammspitze, the summit ahead, almost touching the clouds — if you zoom in, you can just about make out the summit cross... One of my fave hikes ever. Picture is from early May 2022)
#SilentSunday

B&W photo of a very craggy ridge leading towards multiple peaks in the distance, with snow fields going down on the steep slopes on the left and more grassy slopes on the right. Parts of the forested neighboring valleys are visible in the distance. The main summit (Klammspitze) seems to almost touch the low hanging clouds whose shadows are also creating an interesting lighting, with only some parts of the ridge in bright sun...

Content warning: Description of personal injury (not mine)

I was just looking up David Blunkett on Wikipedia, for reasons.
I knew he'd been blind from birth, but bloody hell this is quite some opening paragraph to the "Early life" section:
[Blunkett] grew up in an underprivileged family; in 1959 he endured a family tragedy when his father was gravely injured in an industrial accident: he fell into a vat of boiling water while at work as a foreman for the East Midlands Gas Board, dying a month later. This left the surviving family in poverty, especially since the board refused to pay compensation for two years because his father had worked past the retirement age, dying at the age of 67.
