The European Union on Friday
indefinitely froze Russia’s assets in Europe
to ensure that Hungary and Slovakia,
both with Moscow-friendly governments,
can’t prevent the billions of euros from being used to support Ukraine.
Using a special procedure meant for economic emergencies,
the EU blocked the assets until Russia gives up its war on Ukraine
and compensates its neighbor for the heavy damage that it has inflicted for almost four years.

Reading Paul Krugman talking with Adam Tooze . Re. € crisis in 2012: "Paul DeGraue, Belgian economist said, “this is a panic, the numbers don’t really justify this.” Mario Draghi actually agreed and said three words, “whatever it takes,” that the ECB will stand behind that and will make sure the countries don’t run out of cash. The crisis just evaporated like nothing. *Most effective central bank statement in the history of humanity*, I’m sure." Here is Dhragi's speech:

The European Union, overcoming deep dissension among its members,
gave the green light to a sweeping trade pact with four South American countries on Friday
that would create one of the largest free-trade zones in the world,
connecting markets with more than 700 million people.
The agreement offers a stark contrast to the amped-up aggression on display this week from the Trump administration.

Was there a massive leak of a dangerous greenhouse gas in Iceland🇮🇸 in 2011 - or was it just a data📈 reporting error? European emission databases show that the Norðuršl aluminium factory🏭 in Iceland released 60 tons of SF₆ in 2011 — but no such emissions in any other year. It's so much that it is hard to believe this really happened. And that is not the only odd thing I found in emission databases.
