Next at the #SolarEclipse Conference Nick James talked about new (and finally amateur-affordable) polarization-sensitive cameras in which each pixel comes with a polarizer: since it's a while til the next solar eclipse he demonstrated it with the #Moon where the #polarization of the maria is higher than of the highlands, matching expectations. 2/n

1/N Memory lane. Tuoreessa Skrolli-lehdessä on juttu 80-luvun marginaalisista kotitietokoneista. 80-luvun alussa Commodore 64 oli joka huushollin kodinkone, eikä siis yhtään kiinnostava. Mutta TTKK:n sähkötekniikan laitoksella joku, jonka nimeä en enää muista, myi pakettia, jossa oli jutussa mainittu 64-kiloinen Dragon, 1,2 megainen Teacin lerppuasema ja kehittynyt OS-9 -käyttöjärjestelmä. Sellainen oli paljon kiinnostavampi.

Saw this on my kitchen counter today and thought „hmm, ‚Solid Porcelain‘ might be a cool design language, actually.“
Can do the same 3d effects, nice highlights / reflections, and easier to read on than the transparency of #LiquidGlass. Plus, stuff sticking out of the icon is always fun. #iOS

Over the last months, I have been listening to a bunch of podcasts that were basically interviews with people from the public sector who were talking about how the sausage is made in government - today, for example, there were two people from a think tank talking about how they lobbied the government for a specific policy around the use of the strategic petroleum reserve in the US. This kind of stuff is oddly appealing to me - I would love to listen to something like that from a german /
