#socialcoop So our Meet.Coop instance has been down for 3 weeks, and from what I see on https://forum.meet.coop/t/meet-coop-update-october-2025/1739/47, it's not clear w…
The mainstream media said voters wouldn’t go for him
and they said “socialism won’t sell.”
But on the streets of New York, people were done listening to conventional wisdom.
All throughout Manhattan and from East Harlem to Queens, voters told us the same thing:
they’re tired of the old guard, the empty promises, and a system that serves the wealthy instead of the working class.
❝The state became neither “free market” nor “socialist” — it became a patronage machine run by insiders.❞
EDIT: Posted the link for the first paragraphs, but man, that article goes off the rails later on. 🧵

Hey Fedi, as a marketer I want to say: ALL OF YOU HAVE THE POWER TO INFLUENCE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.
We can shape social movements and public opinion with the things we say. Communication CAN change minds and make improvements that feel “impossible” real and tangible. That’s how the right got as far as it did, with strong and consistent messaging.
Now, let’s be practical. HOW we talk about the events that happen matters as much as WHAT we talk about.
If we want to make a difference and mobilize people towards progressive stances while our democracy and freedom are under attack - we need to use effective language and messaging.
Don’t give airtime to conservative values and MAGA lies. Instead, appeal to the values we believe in and help shape the conversation in ways that benefit people like us who want a better future.
I’ll share some resources in the thread with actionable advice.

A panel on bitcoin treasury companies.
Because investment law makes it hard for institutions to buy bitcoin in their funds. You can't own BTC in you tax free ISA. So some companies that do hold bitcoin, notably microstrategy, became proxy investments. If you can't hold BTC you could maybe own a company that owns BTC instead.
Microstrategy started because it's ceo realized it's dollar treasury was being debased by dollar printing. So tried buying BTC instead, with fantastic success.
Copycat companies proliferated. They boomed and then busted. One panelist calls that a grift. A way to memeticly pump share price.
A line can be drawn between profitable companies just storing their profit in bitcoin Vs those raising debt to buy without having a profitable business.
Imagine a world transiting from using seashells for money to using gold coins. A company gathers seashells from investors to buy gold coins, which will do better than sea shells. Trouble is the next step where the company pays back it's investors with... More seashells.
If you own shares in the company, you do not own bitcoin. You'll just get more old fashioned bank money.
Still. It's worked as marketing, more people being convinced BTC has value.
If you do buy a treasury company, check it's bitcoin not "digital assets" including shitcoins.

The "People Over Billionaires" March Tours San Francisco's Ritziest Neighborhood
Activists assembled in Alta Plaza Park, San Francisco's billionaire epicenter, on November 15
for a rally and march to demand,
"housing, healthcare, and food for all," from the ultra-wealthy.
During the rally,
Socialists and Communists set up literature tables,
and people distributed kits containing a whistle and ICE reporting instructions.
The overthrow and reported capture by invading US forces of Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela’s hardline socialist president, will send a shiver of fear and consternation around the world. The coup is illegal, unprovoked and regionally and globally destabilising. It upends international norms, ignores sovereign territorial rights, and potentially creates an anarchic situation inside Venezuela itself.
