Many years ago I was working with a friend to find a bug in a Makefile generator. We had a megabyte or so of Makefile we needed to examine. He was an emacs user. It took him minutes just to open the file. I was using sam. It took about a second for sam to load, and I found the problem before he'd even finished loading the file.
The speed of tools matters, and big files are common nowadays. Things should stay fast as their workload grows. That goes double for interactive tools.
By the way, it still takes me 30 seconds to log in to my bank. I wonder how long it will take when it's an LLM-generated landing page.

I have done my best to try to make good use of the “windowed” or “stage manager” modes on my iPad Air 11in (M2). Been using it since 26 was released.
But, it is so bad. Just a mess of misplaced window frames and moving targets.
Can’t deal with it anymore. I might turn it on on occasion for very specific tasks, but it gets in the way more than it is useful.

Successfully got the openSUSE Pi5 abomination booting off a WD VelociRaptor 10kRPM SATA hard drive that uses more power than the entire rest of the computer!
Things are different in openSUSE-aarch64 land compared to Raspbian:
1. videocore loads a grub executable, so it feels like a PC when it boots
2. there's no /boot/cmdline.txt (on mmcblk0p1 or elsewhere)
