When the Odyssey first began to circulate in ancient Greece, no one knew its author. So how did ‘Homer’ become the name on the book’s cover?

I haven’t seen the Odyssey movie yet, but this is an interesting commentary on it and the zeitgeist were in.

The same people who want historical accuracy when they really mean they don't want to see black people are now saying they don't care about Odyssey not being accurate. Curious.

I have a suggestion for folk watching The Odyssey. Treat it like a rock concert and wear earplugs. After the first three minutes I put them in and I heard dialogue much better. The music is So Loud in it, and the dialogue is more intelligible when you’re not wincing.

I rarely go to the theater anymore, but The Odyssey was absolutely worth it. Incredibly well done. Who knew a cyclops could actually be terrifying or a Trojan horse actually believable?

I’ll admit it. I can’t wait to see The Odyssey this summer—it seems like a perfect summer blockbuster.
But now I really want someone—Greta Gerwig? Katherine Bigelow? Other suggestions?—to make a movie of Clare North’s Song of Penelope books. It would be very cool if it were with the same cast in the main roles, too.
